Students will explore different techniques to make their own glass design. They will learn basic glass cutting skills, composition and safety. Students must be able to wear safety goggles at all times in the glass studio, including those students who wear eyeglasses.Their glass will be fired in the kiln and available for pick up in approximately 2-3 weeks.
Drawing from life serves as the foundation for other art mediums. This still life drawing class uses pencil, ink, and pastels to help find your drawing style. Experiment with viewfinders, lighting, and mark-making tools to develop your observational skills and expressive linework.Registration includes drawing materials, but students are welcome to bring their own materials as well.
Learn to analyze and replicate works of art from CMA's permanent collection, focusing on painting styles and techniques. Some prior drawing experience is required. Registration includes all painting supplies and canvas.
This discounted class option is designed for students who have taken one or more Classic Oil Painting classes with instructor Lin Luciano Fiore. Advanced students are provided with additional water soluble paints and canvas. Students will master basic figure painting techniques using a clothed model, starting with a drawing unit on paper in class one. Subsequent classes will focus on painting the figure on canvas using Renaissance methods in a loose, Impressionistic style, utilizing advanced techniques to elevate and build upon intro level painting skills.
This course explores the art of painting the human figure using a clothed model. The popularity of water-soluble oils in these classes stems from their rich oil texture and lack of harsh turpentine odors. Students will begin by mastering basic figure painting techniques through drawing exercises on paper. Subsequent classes will transition to painting the figure on canvas, employing Renaissance methods with a loose, Impressionistic style. The series provides a comprehensive review of classic oil painting principles, following Lin's unique step-by-step process.
Create a layered shadow box ring using sterling silver and a wide variety of metalsmithing techniques including: designing, stone setting, stamping/texturing, cold/hot connections, sawing, shaping, and adding patina. Artist Alexander Draven will walk you through each step from designing your ring to the beautifully polished final product. Add a small cabochon stone, metal cut outs and other adornments to personalize your one-of-a-kind ring.
